Welcome to the new blog. Hopefully all the technical problems have been sorted and I'll be able to keep this one going longer than the last one.

This blog is intended to be a record of my efforts towards getting my novel finished. Along with discussions about writing in general, I'll also be looking at books and other things that I've found useful, or not, for writing.

I write genre fiction, for the most part, but I also write articles for publication in local magazines and newspapers. I wrote a column on technology trends for a local magazine before it folded, and have published several articles on life in Japan in both magazines and newspapers. I am working on several short stories and a novel, and want to get them published too.

The novel is a fantasy of the classic variety of Burroughs, Wells, and Verne. I've been working on it for a number of years, working to create the universe in which my story takes place. I have a completed first draft of the story, and am now doing the editing and rewriting for it.

I'm planning on posting some of the background material, and some chapters, in a separate page labelled 'Writing', so look for that there.

I hope you get as much out of reading these posts as I'm sure I'm going to get out of writing them.
